The secondary school in Gilavar village of Shabran district has been constructed within the framework of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s project “A new school to new Azerbaijan”. On 16 September 2013, the school was commissioned.

Built early in the 20th century, the school building had fallen into disrepair, therefore was completely demolished and built anew. With total area of 963 sq.m., the one-floor school building is designed for 100 pupils. The new building has 8 classrooms, a laboratory, a library, director’s room and a room for teachers, as well as wrestling, tennis and chess rooms. A football and basketball pitch has been created in the schoolyard. The building has a heating system with a boiler house.

The school has been provided with new teaching aids, rich literature fund and up-to-the-date equipment.
