The Rehabilitation Centre for Children Needing Special Care built in Yeni Guneshli settlement was constructed as part of the project of cooperation between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Uralsib Financial Corporation of Russia.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Uralsib Financial Corporation of Russia on November 5, 2007.  Within the project, construction of the Centre started and was put into operation on April 5, 2011. President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration ceremony.

With 1700-sq.m area, the Centre was built to the latest standards and provided with state-of-the-art equipment. The sand therapy, art therapy  and healing bath methods are used for psychotherapeutic treatment of children at the Centre. Children   are tought social environment orientation lessons and independent living habits.

The sensor therapy room aims at improving psycho-emotional situation, decrease anxiety and aggression, remove fear and nervousness, restore normal sleep, build reliable communication between the psychologist and a child.

The world-famous balneotherapy are carried out at the Centre for children suffering cerebral palsy. As a result, even patients with serious illness can learn to swim freely. Children are not scared to move in the pool as their weight decreases twice. A special lifting device for the pool was bought to make this therapy more efficient. This device will facilitate the use of this therapy for children deprived of movement.

Along with treatment, education works also are provided at the Centre. Education of children and juveniles are carried out at the Centre’s adaptation room using games and toys in an entertaining form. Children’s psychological and physical abilities are also evaluated at the Centre. Treatment and evaluation are carried out in a room allocated for this purpose by 3 specialist- paediatricians, neurologist and psychologist.

All rooms at the Centre have been provided with surveillance cameras. Video imaging received via such cameras are passed over to big monitors in the Centre’s lobby. This allows parents to watch the rehabilitation process for children and juveniles.

Open sports and entertainment grounds have been created in the Centre’s yard.

The Centre has been provided with a “Hyundai” bus to transport children between their homes and the Centre.
