Inauguration of the 6th Gabala International Music Festival takes place

Inauguration of the 6th Gabala International Music Festival took place, with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in Azerbaijan.

 

A congratulation letter by Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva addressed to the participants of the event was read.

 

The letter stated: “Distinguished participants of the Festival! Dear friends! Welcome to the 6th Gabala International Music Festival. I wish successes to the festival and send my best wishes to each of you. A completely matchless cultural environment has been formed in Azerbaijan, where centuries-long multinational and multi-confessional society existed. We could manage to recognize examples of the world culture, while preserving unique treasures of our culture, traditions and history. International cultural relations, mutual cultural integration are among the priority issues in Azerbaijan’s interstate policy. Projects increasing effectiveness of the international cultural and spiritual integration are very important for us. The Gabala International Music Festival, which is gaining more and more influence year-by-year and brings together talented musicians from around the world, has been recognized as an event greatly contributing to the dialogue among nations, along with becoming a music holiday which has turned into a tradition in the history of our national culture. We value this festival as a contribution to mutual enrichment of different nations’ music culture and strengthening of friendly relations between nations.

 

I wish sound health to everyone participating in the Festival and endless achievements to all creative people”.

 

One of the artistic directors of the Festival, rector of the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeir Hajibeyli, People’s Artist Farhad Badalbeyli and chairperson of the Azerbaijani Union of the Elderly, deputy of the National Assembly Fattah Heydarov emphasized that this festival, which serves popularization of Azerbaijan’s culture, is also a means to introduce our country’s music traditions to the world.

 

On the first day of the festival, a concert by the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeir Hajibeyli took place on a stage built in the open air.

 

“Illustration to Samad Vurghun Poem” by Khayyam Mirzazadeh, “Allegro” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “Albanian Rhapsody” by Gara Garayev and pieces from works of other well-known Azerbaijani and European composers were performed at the concert.

 

Eminent musicians, artistic groups, soloists and conductors from Azerbaijan and foreign countries will participate in the Festival to continue until August 1st
