Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s Regional Development Public Union holds meetings with residents in Yevlakh and Sheki
Established following the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s initiative, the Regional Development Public Union held a meeting in Yevlakh town.
At the meeting, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov talked about the works carried out, projects implemented by the Foundation during the period past, and gave information about the activity of the newly established Public Union.
Anar Alakbarov noted that, along with the works carried out by the state, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation too, since its establishment in 2004, has implemented various programmes and projects, under the leadership of Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, in the fields of science and education, environment, sports etc., aiming to immortalize our history, deliver true facts about Azerbaijan to the world community, and secure social, economic and cultural progress in the country.
412 schools have been constructed to date within the framework of the project “New schools to new Azerbaijan”. Secondary schools and preschool education establishments have been constructed and basically repaired both in the capital and in the regions under the projects “Support for Education”, “Development of children’s homes and boarding schools” and “Development of preschool education establishments”, and significant works carried out towards removing healthcare problems of the population, improving ecological condition in the country. Some 50 religious temples and about 500 cultural objects have been basically repaired in Azerbaijan following the initiative and with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
A new school building for 200 pupils in Hajiselli village and a new school building for 100 pupils in Namarli village of Yevlakh district have been built by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and a secondary school for 360 pupils in Kovar village of the district has been reconstructed.
Emphasizing that the Foundation has held various events associated with our country, delivering the true facts about Azerbaijan in countries where the Armenian diaspora is especially strong, Anar Alakbarov said all these are the result of the Foundation President Mehriban Aliyeva’s tireless efforts and activity.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been extending its activities in the regions of Azerbaijan too. Anar Alakbarov said in the first phase, the Foundation will extend its activities to the regions in 2016-2017. According to him, the primary objective of the Regional Development Public Union, established following the instructions of President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, is to implement more active projects covering the country’s public and political, social and cultural life, building a civil society, provide wider support to reforms carried out and actions taken by the state aiming at the regions’ development. Underscoring the organizations works towards public activity and strengthening public control, Anar Alakbarov invited all, especially the youth, to take close part in the organization’s activities, and give proposals, as such proposals may stimulate implementation of any project. It was brought to attention that an electronic database has been already created and matters associated with the execution thereof is always kept under control. Anar Alakbarov noted that the Public Union is primarily seeking the solution of problems the population is concerned of in a collective form, which means actions directed towards solution of issues that the population of a region, district or village is concerned of, rather than problems of individual nature, are carried out.
Speaking later, chairperson of the Regional Development Public Union Mahammad Abdullayev said in the course of its four-month activity, numerous appeals have been received by the Public Union from the regions associated with improving gas supply of the residential areas, provision with quality electricity, drinking and irrigation water, phone, Internet and postal connection, repairing highways and intra-village roads, ecology, protection of environment, as well as development of tourism, efficient organization of the youth’s leisure, instilling a healthy lifestyle in the youth etc. All the appeals and materials have been analysed in detail and concrete steps taken towards their solution in cooperation with relevant state bodies.
Mahammad Abdullayev said because the Aran region covers a big area, the Public Union has conditionally divided it into Aran-1 and Aran-2 regions, to ensure more close contact with the population. Activities on the region Aran-2 will cover the districts Yevlakh, Aghdash, Goychay, Ujar, Zardab, Kurdamir, Imishli, Beylagan, and Mingachevir town. Representatives will work at the Heydar Aliyev Centre in Yevlakh town.
The Regional Development Public Union embarked on its activity in March 2016. 5 regional centres of the Public Union has already been established.
Members of the Public Union and volunteers have been in constant contact with residents. Speaking at the meeting, chairperson of the National Assembly’s Youth and Sports Committee Fuad Muradov said the Public Union has reached achievements in a number of fields, although a short time has passed since its establishment. He called on the region’s elderly and youth, the public in general, to take close part in the Public Union’s activities and give proposals on the issues they are concerned of. Fuad Muradov told that successful results have been achieved today on the fulfilment of the projects and programmes being implemented under the leadership of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. According to him, the activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which has been actively participating in the country’s public life, especially of the Foundation’s President Mehriban Aliyeva, have close ties with every human being’s life in the country, and none of the appeals made to the Foundation will remain without attention.
Speaking at the event, representatives of the district’s general public and youth too talked about the projects the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has implemented to date in Yevlakh in various areas, as well as education and healthcare institutions and children’s homes constructed. Proposals were heard at the event, held in the form of a discussion, on supporting talented youth in the district, improving healthcare, solving issues concerning irrigation to ensure improvement of arable lands, development of cotton-growing and silkworm breeding, education and healthcare areas, formation of human capital in the regions etc.
Then, representatives of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation visited villages of Yevlakh district, held meetings with residents. While making themselves familiarized with cotton fields, it was informed that the Regional Development Public Union has received a number of proposals on the development of cotton-growing, creation of an irrigation system, and these proposals are being examined.
At the same time, meetings took place with residents in Sheki district. Here, a school requiring a repair was examined. It was informed that the Public Union receives appeals concerning construction and basic repair of secondary schools and preschool education establishments in the regions. The appeals received will be discussed together with the Ministry of Education.
Representatives of the Regional Development Public Union paid a visit also to the mixed type children’s home in Sheki city. Basic repair works will start at this children’s home, in operation since 1930, within the framework of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s projects on social and educational spheres.
