8th Gabala International Music Festival ends with success

Held with organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the 8th Gabala International Music Festival ended with success, August 5.

 

The Festival has earned profound sympathy of foreign and local musicians by its magnificence. Following the Festival’s programme, works by eminent composers of both Azerbaijan and the world were performed on the Gabala scene. On an open scene and in the chamber music hall, where the Festival took place, young musicians performed along with world-renowned musicians. Here, classic and chamber music, our mugham were performed, and an international contest of pianists took place. From July 30 to August 5, eminent musicians, artistic groups, soloists and conductors from Azerbaijan, Austria, Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Italy, France, Spain, Israel, Lithuania and Cuba demonstrated their skills before the audience.

 

A concert by Ukraine’s “Virtuosos of Kiev” Symphonic Orchestra took place at the Festival’s closing ceremony. Soloists of the concert, held with the direction of artistic director of the festival, head of “Virtuosos of Kiev” Symphonic Orchestra, world-renowned cellist Dmitri Yablonski, were student of Italy’s “La Scala” Academy Azer Rzazadeh (tenor), winner of a number of contests, Italian musician Federica Lombardi(soprano), soloist of Germany’s Nuremberg Opera Theatre Javid Samadov(baritone), and participant of a number of international festivals Arcady Shilkloper (trumpet).

 

Works by European composers G.Rossini, P.Mascagni, A.Shilkloper, R.Leoncavallo, W.A. Mozart and G.Bizet were performed at the concert. The Festival ended with the aria of Mardan from G.Garayev and J.Hajiyev’s “Homeland” Opera, and the song “Azerbaijan” by M.Magomayev.

 

Beautiful performances of well-known musicians bestowed unforgettable moments upon the audience and were welcomed with applauses.
