The First Azerbaijani Film Festival comes to the end in Italy

The First Azerbaijani Film Festival, held in the historical “Casa del Cinema” Movie House in “Villa Borghese” Park of Rome came to the end, June 24.

 

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Italy Mammad Ahmadzadeh, MP, head of the Azerbaijan-Italy Interparliamentary Relations working group Azer Karimli, Georgia’s Ambassador to Italy Carlo Sikharulidze, well-known Italian movie director and script writer, Oscar and Bafta awards winner Gianni Kuaranta and Italian professor, author of the book entitled “Asad bey, an Azerbaijani Writer in Positano” Romolo Ercolino delivered a speech at the Festival’s official opening ceremony, held with organizational and information support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Italy, the Azerbaijan State Information Agency (AZERTAG), “Casa del Cinema” Movie House, the Italia-Azerbaijan Trade Chamber, “AGI” Information Agency, and “Azerbaijannews” News Portal.

 

After the official opening, the film “Ali and Nino”, of which project head and executive producer is Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, was shown.

 

The second day of the Festival started with the show of the film “Eternal Mission”, talking about the fate of the delegation, headed by Chairperson of the Parliament of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic Alimardan Topchubashov, sent by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in January 1919 on an official trip to the Paris Peace Conference, with Arzu Aliyeva being the chief producer of the film, prepared by the Baku Media Centre, having enjoyed the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Before the show of the film, Ambassador Mammad Ahmadzadeh and academic of the Roman Sapienza University, Italian researcher of the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic Daniel Pommier delivered a speech.

 

On the same day, the Festival continued with demonstration of the feature films “The Curtain”, “Unfinished Memories” and “Icherisheher”. Speaking before the show of the film “Icherisheher”, script writer and one of the main characters of the film Tahmina Rafaela gave information about the film.

 

On the final day of the Festival, demonstration of the film “Under the Single Sun”, talking about the life of minority peoples and ethnic groups - with different cultures, traditions, different tongues and religious faiths - living in Azerbaijan, which was made in the framework of the “Multiculturalism Year” in our country in 2016, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, took place. Arzu Aliyeva is the chief producer of the film.

 

Before the demonstration of the film, Ambassador Mammad Ahmadzadeh and Italian representative of the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre in Italy, head of Sandro Teti Print House, political scientist Sandro Teti delivered a speech.

 

The Festival ended with presentation of the films “Nabat” and “Extreme Harmony”, as well as “Ruler’s Destiny”, made on the basis of the play “The Ruler and His Daughter” by Azerbaijan’s People’s Writer Ilyas Afandiyev.

 

The Italian press has shown great interest toward the Festival, having printed numerous information and articles in local mass media before and during the Festival.
