Vice-president of foundation

Leyla Ilham gyzy Aliyeva was born on July 3, 1985 in Moscow.

In 2000, Leyla Aliyeva finished the high school, and entered the European Business School.

During 2006-2008, she studied at the Moscow State International Relations Institute (MGIMO), and received the master’s degree.


Until 2010, she had been the chairperson of the Azerbaijanis Club at MGIMO.


Since May 10, 2007, Leyla Aliyeva has been the Head of the Russian Representative Office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.


On December 19, 2007, she founded the “БАКУ” magazine (Baku in Russian) in Moscow, and is its founder and chief editor.  


Leyla Aliyeva is the initiator of the campaign “Justice for Khojaly”, which started on May 8, 2008. 


Since May 2008, she has been a chief coordinator of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue.


On April 18, 2009, Leyla Aliyeva was elected to the position of Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR).


As of 2011, she has been the Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.


In July 2011, Leyla Aliyeva was decorated with the “Progress” Medal, for her services to delivering the truth about Azerbaijan to the world society. 


On July 12, 2011, following Leyla Aliyeva’s initiative, IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Union started its activity. 

In October 2011, she presented the English version of the magazine “BAKU” in London.


In November 2011, Leyla Aliyeva was awarded the “Key to Life” Prize in New York, for her active participation in humanitarian actions.


On November 22, 2011, she received a UN certificate and a special card.


On September 12, 2012, she was awarded the “For Services to Astrakhan Region” Prize.


On April 5, 2013, Leyla Aliyeva was honoured with the “For Protecting the Environment” Prize by the Board of the Organizing Committee of the 7th International Project Olympiad for Protection of the Environment. 


On December 20, 2013, she was decorated with “Princes Olga” Order of 3rd Grade, and was awarded the “For Services to Volgograd Region” Prize.

In May 2015, Leyla Aliyeva was conferred on the title of a Goodwill Ambassador of UN Food and Agriculture Organization for her contribution to achieving such goals as combating hunger, ensuring food safety, increasing efficiency of agriculture, forestry and fishery, and creation of healthy food systems.

On 20 October 2015, she was awarded Russian Federation's "Pushkin" Medal. On 4 November 2015, at a reception in honour of the People’s Unity Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the "Pushkin" Medal to Leyla Aliyeva.

On September 28, 2016, by a decision of the Moscow State International Relations Institute's Scientific Council, she was conferred on "Medal of Merit".
