A project on “Providing people with lost and impaired vision with access to information communication technologies”

A cooperation agreement and project document has been signed, on December 9, 2005, between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and UN’s Development Program on providing people with lost and impaired vision with access to information communication technologies. Purpose of the project is to assist physically disabled people with active participation in the public life, improving opportunities to acquire information through information and communication technology and improve their knowledge, as well as increasing employment. Within the project, a relevant centre has been established at the Republican boarding school for children with lost and impaired vision. On March 15, 2007, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva familiarized herself with the works done at the  Republican boarding school.


Here, model ICT classrooms have been created for children, software localized, Internet access ensured, and drafting teaching and training  programs,  activity of the audio studio and library’s have  been provided.  2 computers of German make have been installed at the library. These computers present the latest technology made for children with lost and impaired vision. The Braille alphabet allows to read and listen to any book in Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages  by saving them into the computer’s memory. Listening to music, access to the Internet, corresponding, saving up to 100 thousand-page book into the memory, making its copy, as well as sending messages to mobile phones is possible with these devices.
