Opening of the first exhibition of Christie’s Auction in Baku

On september 15, 2012, world’s famous Christie’s Auction organized, in partnership with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and YARAT Modern Art Space, its first exhibition in Azerbaijan in a grandiose hall of the newly inaugurated Four Seasons Hotel in Baku. First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-president of the Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the ceremony.

 

Various pieces of art, items and exhibits chosen for autumn sales to be held by Christie’s in London, New York and Dubai were demonstrated at the exhibition. These exhibits include works related to the Impressionist period, the period after the World War 2nd, and modern art works, as well as Eastern carpets and modern pieces of art from the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Turkey.

 

Works by world-renown artists were displayed at this exhibition. The exhibition featured also the work “Woman with Dog” by world-renown artist Pablo Picasso.

 

A Garabagh carpet related to the 18th century included in Christie’s collection was also displayed at the exhibition.
