Over the course of the period from February 5 to February 9, 2018, an exhibition dedicated to the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Azerbaijan and Russia took place in the building of the State Duma, with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia, and the Russian State Duma’s Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Work with Fellow-citizens.

The exhibition’s concept was built on showing that Azerbaijan was an old, yet rapidly developing country, with its rich history. At the same time, exhibits reflecting the friendly relations, mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, and rapid development of economic relations were demonstrated at the exhibition.

At the exhibition, consisting of a few sections, visitors became acquainted with exhibits related to Azerbaijan, its culture, and with photo and video materials. Booklets, brochures, tourist maps, information about sights, the process of obtaining a visa, and flights, as well as materials regarding Baku’s being a candidate city for Expo 2025 were presented in the information section. Here were also information about Azerbaijan’s tourism potential. Various souvenirs of “I Love Baku” – a national souvenir brand of Azerbaijan - related to our country are also displayed in the stand.

In the section “Treasures of Azerbaijan”, our ancient carpets, examples of coppersmithery, traditional lattice art, national garments made for the exhibition, and music instruments were displayed. Visitors were also presented artefacts related to our history and culture. National garments related to each region of our country were distinguished for their colour, patterns, and design.

Visitors were informed of the Azerbaijani music as an important part of its culture. For centuries, music has reflected significant events happening in the Azerbaijani people’s life. The ashyg art has been living in Azerbaijan for a thousand years. In 2008, mugham was declared by UNESCO a masterpiece of the world’s intangible heritage. Saz, kamancha, balaban etc. have their special place among the national music instruments. Video materials are demonstrated on monitors installed in this section.

The section “Recreation and library” has been built in the Eastern style. In the library, visitors familiarized themselves with publications related to Azerbaijan’s history and culture. In this section, materials reflecting the periods when Azerbaijani people’s national leader Heydar Aliyev worked in Russia, as well as his visits to this country aroused special interest. Here has also been created a stand dedicated to famous Azerbaijanis that have left their traces in the Russian history.

And in the section “History of Azerbaijan”, materials about Azerbaijan’s old history and its present day, multiculturalism traditions, relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as video materials are presented.
