On July 19, 2018, inauguration of the exhibition “Literary Treasure”, dedicated to Shah Ismail Khatai, a great son, warlord and poet of the Azerbaijani people, took place in the Heydar Aliyev Centre.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration ceremony.

The exhibition was organized with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Uffizi Gallery of Florence, the Heydar Aliyev Centre, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Italy, and the Italian Embassy in Azerbaijan.

The audience could become acquainted with the era ruled by Shah Ismail and his son and heir Shah Tahmasib. Footprints of the seals by Shah Ismail and Shah Tahmasib, as well as a photocopy of the Decree issued in 1502 on normalising economic affairs in one of the regions of the South Azerbaijan were displayed at the exhibition. Two original portraits of Shah Ismail and his son Shah Tahmasib, brought for the first time to Azerbaijan by the Uffizi Gallery, were the true culmination of the exhibition. Authored by Christofano Dell’Altissimo, these portraits formed the spirit of the whole exposition, being the central exhibits of the exhibition.
