Azerbaijani pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale

At the 58th Venice Biennale – the International Art Exhibition - held in 2019, Azerbaijan was represented with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Azerbaijan participated in the Biennale with a national pavilion called “Virtual Reality”.

 

Artworks by artists and sculptors Zeygam Azizov, Orkhan Mammadov, Zarnishan Yusif, Kenan Aliyev and Ulviyya Aliyeva were presented at the exposition opened at Lezze Palace related to the 14th century in Campo Santo Stefano.

 

Subjects of multimedia artworks, installations and statues covered the following: everyday, people are encountering striking flow of information. Each person in the world checks his phone 150 times in the course of a day, with over 2 billion people using social networks. Fake news are shared through social networks more often, and majority of the discussions held are not associated with whether or not they are true.

 

The 58th Venice Biennale continued until November 24.
