International conference ‘Interaction of cultures in globalization’ held in Moscow in memory of Heydar Aliyev
International conference ‘Interaction of cultures in globalization’ was held in Moscow in memory of national leader of Azeri people Heydar Aliyev. Organized by Heydar Aliyev Foundation Moscow Office, the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Global Processes Faculty of the M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and Russian Philosophy Society on the National Salvation Day – the 15th of June, the event was attended by outstanding scholars of Russia and Azerbaijan.
Opening the event that took place at the conference hall of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences Director of the Institute, Academician Abduselim Huseynov valued the conference as eminent event, stressed importance of global issues on the agenda.
Head of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Moscow Office Mrs Leila Aliyeva noted the nation of Azerbaijan celebrates the 15th of June as the National Salvation Day. L.Aliyeva said: ‘After restoring independence Azerbaijan faced serious economic and political problems. Azerbaijan, which was in economic decline, underwent military aggression by Armenia, was on the edge of civil war. Independence that was expected long ago was in danger. The situation was radically changed only after Heydar Aliyev returned to the power on June 15, 1993. Cornerstone of the sovereign state of Azerbaijan was laid. Heydar Aliyev devoted all his life to his country, his motherland, thanks to his wise policy Azerbaijan is developing and blossoming. Azerbaijan is the leader for several years for the rate of economic development, huge regional projects are implemented in the country in field of transport, energy, social problems solved. In short, development covers all spheres of life.
Today, Heydar Aliyev is not with us physically, but independent Azerbaijan lives, the work the national leader dedicated all his life to, his ideas live, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which celebrated its 5th jubilee this year, lives. For this time, Heydar Aliyev Foundation has acquired trust and support of almost all sections of Azerbaijani nation. The Foundation functions today not in Azerbaijan only, but in different countries as well and continues the generous works started by Heydar Aliyev.
I am honored that today’s conference on the theme of interaction of cultures in globalization is dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliyev. Azerbaijan that has unique geopolitical position, is real bridge between East and West and located on the ancient Silk Road reflects both eastern and western cultures. Our nation has for centuries been raised in tolerant atmosphere. We deeply value our traditions, at the same time much respect various cultures of the world countries. Today, Azerbaijan can be the model of tolerance in the world community. Today’s subject – globalization is quite wide and ambiguous. But it is certain that the modern world integrates and globalization covers almost all countries and nations in the world. I am sure today’s conference will be very interesting and fruitful. It is nice that the conference coincides with the national holiday of Azerbaijan and I would like to see a symbolic character and good sense in this. I wish success to all participants in the conference’.
Ex-president of Kyrgyzstan, foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of MSU Asger Akayev made lecture themed ‘Phenomenon of personality as eternal development factor and interaction of cultures’. Valuing the conference held in the Russian capital in memory of the glorious son of Azerbaijan as a remarkable event he said a lot in life of Heydar Aliyev were linked to Moscow where he received strong support, was promoted in political and state actions, at the same time faced hypocrisy and unfairness of soviet leaders. With his humane and civic dignity Heydar Aliyev accepted these difficulties and after returning to the native republic devoted his strength, talent and knowledge to the nation of Azerbaijan. The scale of Heydar Aliyev personality was so large that his intellectual and humane qualities were known and assessed in the international arena.
Asger Akayev said: ‘I had occasion to meet for many times with Heydar Aliyev for 10 years he ruled independent Azerbaijan. In the first meeting I was touched by his bright personality. Despite presidents of CIS countries were governed by the equality principle in relations among themselves, I had quite different attitude on Heydar Aliyev. To me, Heydar Aliyev was a wise and farsighted elder decently overcoming obstacles and troubles of his fate. Around Heydar Aliyev there was an atmosphere of real respect he deserved in the CIS political, state elite. Our countries have a lot of common. In Central Asia we always feel with gratitude strong support and friendly help of Baku.
I remember Heydar Aliyev as a person of deep encyclopedic knowledge, patron of talents. The real renaissance of Azeri literature, art and architecture is linked to his name. Heydar Aliyev personality personified friendship of our nations, eternal relations of our national cultures. Sense and goal of Heydar Aliyev’s life was only to create in both soviet ad post soviet eras. He put his country in the way of multilateral development, changed the small republic into the state of energy, political influence of Azerbaijan possessed international importance. He left rich heritage to his nation and the country raising such sons will always be happy. President Ilham Aliyev, the gifted continuer of the Heydar Aliyev work, is his successor’.
Dean of faculty at MSU, doctor of history Georgi Alekseyev, director of the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Ilham Mammadzade, dean of Global Processes Faculty of MSU Ilya Ilin, head of department at Moscow Tourism Academy by Russian government Olga Chistyakova, first vice-president of Russian Philosophy Society, doctor of philosophy, professor Alexander Chumakov, head of department at Russian Foreign Ministry Diplomacy Academy, doctor of philosophy, professor Konstantin Dolgov and other scholars gave speeches in the conference, where different aspects of globalization and modern context of this notion, national-cultural diversity and interaction of cultures, role of personality in history and other issues were discussed.
In the end, resolution was adopted in the conference. The resolution emphasizes importance of the theme, suggests holding the Aliyev readings, also sociopolitical and philosophic readings in memory of national leader of Azeri people Heydar Aliyev annually.
Executive Director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Elekberov, delegates of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, All-Russian Azeris Congress and youth attended the conference.
