Meeting with a delegation led by Jean-Francois Mansell

Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met, October 3, a delegation led by President of the Association of Fiends of Azerbaijan in France, a member of the French National Assembly Jean-Francois Mansell.

 

Mehriban Aliyeva said she was delighted to see the French guests in our country. She expressed contentment with participation of the deputies of the French National Assembly in two significant events that took place in the public and political life of Azerbaijan in recent days – the 5th Baku International Humanitarian Forum and the visit by Roman Pontiff Francis to our country. President of the Association of Fiends of Azerbaijan in France Jean-Francois Mansell expressed satisfaction with bringing new friends to our country, and said they will make themselves more closely familiarized with our capital. It was underscored that the number of the Association members increase as time goes on, and this serves to strengthening of the Azerbaijan-France relations. It was noted that relations between the two countries are developing very successfully in all spheres, and cooperation in the humanitarian and educational fields were underscored in particular. He brought to attention that relations between cities and regions of France and Azerbaijan have become stronger recently, and that the fraternization agreements signed between our cities opened new possibilities for strengthening the cooperation. He also mentioned that a monument will be erected in October in the French city of Cognac to eminent Azerbaijani poetess Mahsati Ganjavi, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Emphasizing that the primary objective of the Association was to convey the true facts about Azerbaijan to the French society, Mehriban Aliyeva said, from this standpoint, such visits were of great significance.

 

Jean-Francois Mansell, thanking for the meeting, appreciated the opening of an Azerbaijani village in Paris as an important step towards strengthening of bilateral relations. He stressed that during their one-week stay in the Azerbaijani capital, the deputies of the French National Assembly had a chance to get to know the city of Baku. Noting the significance of the events held in our capital, the guest said such contacts are a message to the whole world that representatives of different religions and cultures can live together in an environment of peace.
