The building of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was lit up with blue colour on the occasion of the World Diabetes Day

Staring with November 13, the building of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation started to be lit up with blue colour on the occasion of the World Diabetes Day.

Being the symbol of the UN, the blue colour reflects the sky above all nations’ head, and large buildings of 155 countries, where this action is held, will be lit up just with this colour. The objective of doing this is to draw the attention the public to diabetes, which is considered to be a serious source of threat, and combine efforts for its prevention.

According to a decision of the UN, November 14 is marked in countries-member of this organization as the Day of World Diabetes. Objective of the campaign is to warn people of the increase in the scope of the diabetes. As a preliminary awareness campaign, on that day people are provided comprehensive information regarding the causes of the disease, its symptoms, after-effects and treatment. The Day of World Diabetes brings millions of people – children with and without diabetes, associations and organisations, public health establishments, state officials and media  - together.

Keeping social needs of the public always on the focus of attention, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation tries to help solve pressing public health issues.

In 2005-2007, the “The highest care for children with diabetes” project  has covered patients with diabetes recorded in the republic among children under 15. Within the framework of the project, children have been provided with high-quality insulin and syringes for more than 2 years.
