Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva visited Republican Special Boarding School №5 for children with restricted state of health in Narimanov district.

Republican Special Boarding School №5 for children with restricted state of health has been in operation since 1936. The current building of the school was constructed in 1961, and in 2006, following the instruction of President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, reconstruction and restoration works were carried out on the building, and the school was re-commissioned into operation.

306 pupils are educated at the moment at this school. Out of them, 135 are residing in the school building on a permanent basis.

Leyla Aliyeva became familiarized with the conditions of the school, met with children in the classroom created by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, taking interest in their education and how their leisure was arranged.

A special classroom has been created for children in the school within the framework of the project “Ensuring access for blind and visually restricted people to information and communication technologies” of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which has been implemented along with UN Development Programme. Inaugurated in 2007, the classroom was presented necessary teaching aids, as well as computers specifically made for blind and visually restricted children by the Foundation. Moreover, here are also an audio studio and a library. It was informed that, using a Brail alphabet, any book in Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages can be read, listened to, having been copied into the computer’s memory. In addition, it is also possible to listen to music, get connected to Internet, and send messages.

Thereafter, pupils of the boarding school, including those who had participated in various programmes and festivals, presented their performances.
