Folk songs are performed on the first day of the 7th Mugham TV Contest

Held with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, organizational support of AzTV, with participation of the Culture Ministry, on the basis of a project by the Culture Foundation, the 7th Mugham TV Contest again brought together mugham lovers.

 

Broadcast live on the Azerbaijani Television and the Culture Channel, the first day of the contest was dedicated to folk songs. First, a recording by venerable singer Jabbar Garyaghdy was demonstrated.

 

Invited onto the scene, young performers sang folk songs.

 

20 participants are competing at this year’s contest, to go on for four months. At the end of the contest, the jury will choose the best young khanendeh with a charming voice. 400 young contenders applied to participate in the 7th Mugham TV Contest. 20 of them gained the right to participate in the project. Two of the participants are citizens of Iran.

 

The jury consists of People’s artists Alibaba Mammadov, Arif Babayev, Mansim Ibrahimov, Sakina Ismayilova, Melekkhanum Eyyubova, Secretary of the Union of Composers, Honoured Art Figure Sardar Farajov, and Executive Director of the Contest, Secretary of the Writers Union Ilgar Fahmi.

 

The Contest will be broadcast live on the Azerbaijani Television and Radio, as well as on Culture TV Channel on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
