The winning project at the competition to make the statue of Hajji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev is chosen

The statue of Hajji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev will be made on the basis of the project by People’s Artist Khanlar Ahmadov.  

 

In accordance with the decision taken by the jury, among the 26 projects presented to the open sculpture competition held by the Culture Ministry, the Baku City Executive Authority and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on making the statue of Hajji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, the project by Khanlar Ahmadov was chosen as the winner.   

 

Khanlar Ahmadov studied at the Art School named after Azim Azimzadeh in 1961-1966, in the course of the years 1966 to 1972, he studied at the Tashkent Theatre Art Institute named after A.Ostrovski, and in the years 1972 to 1975, was a postgraduate student of the USSR Art Academy. In 1975, he became a member of the USSR Artists Union.

 

In 2002, by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Khanlar Ahmadov was conferred on the title of Honoured Artist, and in 2006, was honoured with the title of People’s Artist, for his achievements in the advancement of the Azerbaijani fine arts.


Khanlar Ahmadov is working in the field of easel and monumental sculpture. He is the author of a series of implemented monumental projects. His works were exhibited in Germany, France, Poland, Russia, Turkey etc., some of them being preserved in various museums and personal collections.

 

The statue of Hajji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev will be erected on a square near the underground station “Icherisheher” (Istiglaliyyat Street).
