Second International Music Festival in Gabala ends

The Second International Music Festival held in Gabala due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation was closed August 5.


The London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performed in the last day of the Festival. Soloists of the Orchestra were accompanied by American pianist and conductor Dmitry Yablonsky and Russian pianist Boris Berezovsky. ‘Concerto for fortepiano and orchestra’ and ‘Symphony No.2’ by Sergei Rachmaninoff were played in the concert.

 

The Festival that lasted 12 days featured different concerts and events, including performance by gifted musicians from the U.S., Cuba, Russia, England, France and Italy, world-famous musicians such as Yuri Bashmet, Boris Berezovsky, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Great Britain, the honor guest in the Festival. The Festival hosted master-classes as well.

 

Participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova in the official opening ceremony of the Festival on July 30 indicates the importance of the event for promotion of the Azerbaijani music in the world.

 

Addressing the closing ceremony, MP Fattah Heydarov, Rector of Baku Music Academy, professor Farhad Bedelbeyli assessed the Festival as a success, expressed gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva for the high-level organization and musicians attending the Festival.

 

The Festival ended with fireworks.
