Vagif’s Poetry Days in Shusha comes to the end

An event was held on July 15 before the Molla Panah Vagif’s museum-mausoleum complex in the framework of the Vagif’s Poetry Days being held in Shusha.

First, poems about Garabagh by well-known poets were heard.

Then, performances of young poets on the project “New Breath” took place.

Thus, poems and ghazals were heard on the Garabagh land again, and mugham was sang. Shusha, an ancient Azerbaijani land, hosted another unforgettable cultural event.

Thus, the Vagif’s Poetry Days came to the end.

On July 14, in the framework of the Vagif’s Poetry Days, being held for the 2nd time in Shusha, a book exhibition was held before Garabagh Hotel, an opening ceremony before the tomb of the great poet, and a concert-show was arranged on the Jydyr Plain.

On January 14, 1982, inauguration of the Molla Panah Vagif’s mausoleum and the Poetry House took place with participation of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the people of Azerbaijan. In the framework of this event, national leader Heydar Aliyev ordered to hold Vagif’s Poetry Days. A unique event in the history of the modern Azerbaijani literature, the Vagif’s Poetry Days used to start from Gazakh, the poet’s birthplace, and end on Shusha’s magnificent Jydyr Plain, since that time until 1991.

After the city of Shusha was liberated from the Armenian occupation by our victorious Army under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, Vagif’s Poetry Days started to be held again on its homeland – in the cultural capital.
