Presentation of the Baku-2015 First European Games takes place in Hungary

Presentation of the Baku-2015 First European Games took place at historical Vigado Concert Palace of Hungarian capital Budapest with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and assistance by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Hungary, February 21.

 

The event was attended by Hungarian Minister for Human Resources Zoltan Balog, Mayor of Budapest city Ishtvan Tarlosh, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov, Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov, deputies, representatives of embassies accredited in Hungary, sport veterans of this country and sportsmen to take part in the First European Games, as well as Azerbaijanis working and living in Hungary.

 

Before the event, Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Hungary Vilayat Gouliyev and Director of the Hungarian Olympic Committee for Sports Affairs Laszlo Fabien held a joint press conference. After a short presentation of the Baku-2015 European Games, questions of correspondents were answered. 

 

Laszlo Fabien expressed confidence the European Games will be held on the highest level. He said he has recently returned from Baku and witnessed the preparation works being carried out on high level. 

 

Then the official part of the ceremony started. 

 

The host of the ceremony talked about the historical relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary, and works carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its president Mehriban Aliyeva towards preserving historical heritage both within and outside the country, promotion intercultural dialogue and improving opportunities for education of the youth. 

 

Azad Rahimov talked about the upcoming international sport competitions to take place in Azerbaijan. Giving information about the First European Games, the minister noted the significance of this sports competitions for Azerbaijan, as well as the contribution it would make to the sports life of Europe. A.Rahimov talked also about the activity of the Organizing Committee of the Baku-2015 First European Games, headed by Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

 

Minister of Human Resources of Hungary, which unites the spheres of sport, tourism etc., Zoltan Balog emphasized the support of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to high-level organization of the competitions. The minister talked also about the historical friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary. 

 

After the demonstration of a documentary reflecting works on preparation for the European Games, a dinner-party was arranged. During the dinner-party, Azerbaijan’s lyrical songs were performed and a video film with sightseeing of Baku was shown. 

 

Within the framework of the event, an exhibition with books prepared with the support of the Heydar Aliye Foundation and reflecting Azerbaijan’s national treasures and rich history and works by persons of art were demonstrated. Hungary’s state and government officials, persons of culture and art acquainted themselves with the exhibition.
