Being a symbol of Azerbaijan-Russia friendship, Volgograd-Baku Friendship Park has been laid out with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The foundation of the park was laid on June 5, 2013 during the 4th International Forum “Russia-Azerbaijan: Interregional Dialogue - 2013” in Volgograd. Inauguration of the park took place on December 20, 2013. Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony.

The park laid out in an area over 7 hectares features a bas-relief of Azerbaijani people’s national leader Heydar Aliyev, a child playground, a green zone, “Buta” and “Chay” fountains, “Maiden Tower” monument, “Baku” café, and a photo-stand devoted to Nobel brothers.
