Days of Azerbaijani Culture
were held with assistance
from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and organizational support from the Embassy of Azerbaijan
in France in the cities of Gaiar, Tonon and Evian of Rhône-Alpes region.
On September 19, 2012, the inauguration of the
Cultural Centre of Azerbaijan
created
with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan’s Embassy in France took
place in Paris. With various exposition halls created, the Centre features archaeological finds,
ancient coins, weapons, copper works, wide assortment of carpets and carpet products hundreds
of years old, various items of adornment, samples of all directions of popular art, national
garments of Azerbaijan and works by young artists. Azerbaijani literature in French and
publications about different directions of our culture were presented at the Centre’s library.

an exhibition entitled “Cultural Values of
Azerbaijan–the Pearl of Caucasus” was held in various regions of France.
Exhibits reflecting
our old and rich history – carpets and carpet products, copper works, lattices, Azerbaijan’s
national garments, national music instruments, books and booklets, literature in French
published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation were presented. In the framework of the ceremonies
followed by a concert of masters of art of Azerbaijan, the visitors were presented dishes from the
national cuisine of Azerbaijan.
Conveying the truth about the Khojaly genocide throughout the world
Passing message about Azerbaijan’s realities and the roots of the Armenian-Azerbaijani,
Daghlyg Garabagh Conflict to the world community constitutes one of the major priorities for
the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. With this goal in mind, as of 2007, remembrance events marking
the Khojaly genocide are held by the Foundation on an annual basis in a number of the world’s
leading cities, such as Moscow, Berlin, Strasbourg, Brussels, Bucharest, Geneva, Ankara,
Istanbul, Paris, Prague, Washington DC, New-York, Warsaw, London, the Hague, Dubai, Kiev,
Tbilisi, etc.
In the course of commemoration events, The Khojaly Genocide documentary prepared by
the Foundation and depicting the atrocities committed by the Armenian invaders in the
Azerbaijani-populated town of Khojaly is presented together with photos and comments on this
massacre published in various years by the world’s influential media outlets and the exhibition
of child drawings selected in the course of the “Khojaly Through the Eyes of Children” contest.
Meanwhile, the Garabagh Truths collection and the book entitled “War against Azerbaijan:
Targeting Cultural Heritage” are distributed among the events’ participants.
The events striving at unbiased presentation of the fact of genocide in Khojaly and building
the adequate public opinion about it are attended by representatives of various agencies,
diplomatic missions, local residents and mass media.
