The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has financially assisted the restoration of 20 churches in
different regions of France during 2011-2012.
On September, 2012 the ceremony of laying foundation stone to a monument to Prince
Vladimir was held in front of the Saint Prince Vladimir Cathedral in Astrakhan.
Cultural events abroad
In October 2007 the Heydar Aliyev Foundation took part at the “BibliObraz-2007”
international festival, held by the Russian Language Development Center, under the leadership
of the First Lady of Russia. Participants from 22 countries got acquainted with the works of the
Azerbaijani classics translated into Russian and other languages, Foundation’s new
publications, published works and multimedia disks dedicated to the Azerbaijani culture and
Garabagh problem, handmade dolls, miniatures, small carpets, copper works and Azerbaijani
culinary at the “Azerbaijan” stand.
With the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Azerbaijani culture days were held at
the European Parliament headquarters for the first time in November, 2009. The concert of
Azerbaijani musicians took place during the culture days. Besides this, art works, miniatures,
exponents describing Azerbaijan’s ancient carpeting traditions, copper and antique pieces, as
well as albums and booklets based on the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation during 5
years were also demonstrated at the event.
In November, 2010, exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan: Flying Carpet to a Fairy Tale” was
held in London organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijani Embassy in the United
Kingdom and “Baku” magazine. Carpets, differing from with one-another based on their
geographical locations, school, color schemes and other techniques, were demonstrated at the
exhibition. The guests of the event could also taste different dishes from the national Azerbaijani
cuisine and watch the presentation of the “Azerbaijan” publication by the Heydar Aliyev
Foundation.
In February 2011, following the initiative and with support from the Heydar Aliyev
Foundation and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in France,
a ceremony devoted to
the 20
th
anniversary of regain by the Republic of Azerbaijan of state independence and
presentation of the publication “Azerbaijan” in French was held in Paris.
An interesting
concert program performed by masters of art of Azerbaijan was presented, demonstration of
excellent examples of the Garabagh carpet school and old copper works took place and dishes of
the Azerbaijani national cuisine were presented within the framework of the ceremony attended
by President of the Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and members of the French Government.

Germany (September 29, 2011), Vatican (November 29, 2011) and the Republic of Italy

Rome, December 2, 2011).
