Republic dated December 23, 2012 on “Celebrating the 870th jubilee of great Azerbaijani poet
and thinker Nizami Ganjavi”, within the framework of a series of actions devoted to the poet’s
jubilee.
May 29th through June 5th, 2012, Days of Azerbaijani Culture were held with assistance
from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and organizational support from the Embassy of Azerbaijan
in France in the cities of Gaiar, Tonon and Evian of Rhône-Alpes region.
On September 19, 2012, the inauguration of the Cultural Centre of Azerbaijan created
with support from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan’s Embassy in France took
place in Paris. With various exposition halls created, the Centre features archaeological finds,
ancient coins, weapons, copper works, wide assortment of carpets and carpet products hundreds
of years old, various items of adornment, samples of all directions of popular art, national
garments of Azerbaijan and works by young artists. Azerbaijani literature in French and
publications about different directions of our culture were presented at the Centre’s library.
October 19th through November 12th, 2012, an exhibition entitled “Cultural Values of
Azerbaijan–the Pearl of Caucasus” was held in various regions of France. Exhibits reflecting
our old and rich history – carpets and carpet products, copper works, lattices, Azerbaijan’s
national garments, national music instruments, books and booklets, literature in French
published by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation were presented. In the framework of the ceremonies
followed by a concert of masters of art of Azerbaijan, the visitors were presented dishes from the
national cuisine of Azerbaijan.
