works created by Azerbaijani people throughout centuries are displayed on the first and second
floors of the 3
rd
floor building, while the third floor is for exhibits collected from regions of
Azerbaijan manufactured in USA, Germany, Austria, Russia, France, England, Belgium, Iran,
Uzbekistan, Poland, Turkey and other countries.

Mugham contests
Mugham contest held in 2005 under the auspices of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation
dedicated to the 120
th
anniversary of Uzeyir Hajybeyli, famous Azerbaijani composer, aroused
great interest not only among the citizens of Azerbaijan, but those who live abroad as well.
With a view to preserving the ancient art of mugham conveying the rich history of this
performance to future generations and nurturing young talents, the Foundation held mugham
contests in 2007, 2009 and 2011 as well. The finalists of the contest were awarded by the Heydar
Aliyev Foundation.
International Rostropovich Music Festival
The first International Rostropovich Music Festival, organized with the initiative of the
Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was held in Baku during 11-18 December, 2007. Famous pianists
like Murad Adigozalzadeh, Alexander Korsantia (USA), Michael Lidski (Russia), Russian
violinist and conductor Maxim Vengerov, violinist Sergey Krylov, cellist Natalia Gutman
performed at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic named after M.Magomayev during the festival.
One of the most famous musicians of the world Yuri Bashmet and “Moscow Soloists” were also
among the performers.
The festival was organized annually during 2008-2011. The winners of international
contests, well-known Azerbaijani, American, Italian, Russian and French violinists, conductors,
vocalist and pianists performed during these festivals. Besides these, professional music classes
led by the famous musicians and a number of other contests were also a part of the festivals.

World of Mugham” International Mugham Festival
In March 2009, following the Foundation’s initiative and support, the First International
Mugham World Festival was held in Baku. The International Mugham Contest and Symposium
held in the framework of the Festival was attended by experts and mugham connoisseurs from a
number of countries, such as Syria, Iraq, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan,
Egypt, Turkey, Italy, Germany, etc.
