In 2005, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation published the Jubilee Album dedicated to the 50th
anniversary of joint activities of an outstanding musician M.Rostropovich and his spouse
G.Vishnevskaya. The disks with records of their performances were accompanied by richly
illustrated book with Russian and English comments.
In the framework of the cooperation with ISESCO, in 2006, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation
undertook the translation and published the Arabic version of The Leading Lights Modern
Arabic Literature by a prominent orientalist Aida Imanguliyeva.
Bearing in mind the high public demand in a popular edition concerning the burial place
of Azerbaijan’s most outstanding figures frequently attended by foreign visitors, the Heydar
Aliyev Foundation sponsored publication of The Honorary Cemetery inquiry book in 2007.
Compiled in English and Azerbaijani, the book starts with an article dedicated to the life and
activities of Heydar Aliyev and provides information regarding other persons buried in the
Honorary Cemetery in alphabetic order.
In 2008, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation initiated albums of the following recognized
musicians and People’s Artists of Azerbaijan: Arif Babayev, a renowned mugham performer,
Rafig Babayev, a virtuoso pianist and jazzman, Habil Aliyev, a virtuoso kamancha performer,
Alibaba Mammadov, a popular artist, whereas in 2010, musical albums of Janali Akbarov and
Aghakhan Abdullayev, both People’s Artists of Azerbaijan, were published. The albums
comprising unique materials about the artists in question found in Azerbaijan’s National
Archives and abroad include books providing information on their life stories and professional
accomplishments and disks with video and audio records of their performances.
In September 2008, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation conducted the Uzeyir’s World project
dedicated to Uzeyir Hajybeyli, a special figure in the history of Azerbaijan’s musical culture and
the founding father of the modern professional Azerbaijani music and national opera.
The presentation set comprises books like The Chronicle of Life, The Uzeyir Hajybeyli
Encyclopedia, Literary and Journalistic Works, as well as claviers, librettos and CD records of
Leyli and Majnun, Koroghlu (The Blind Man’s Son) and This One if Not That One operas and
operettas.
The book comprises facts, figures and documents published about Uzeyir Hajybeyli in a
broad variety of sources during last 60 years, whereas the documents include U.Hajybeyli’s
works and comments about them together with the materials related to the composer and a
complete bibliography of works necessary for thorough study of his legacy.
The Foundation’s new edition on mugham, The Mugham Encyclopedia, went out of print
in September 2008. A two-volume edition is valuable both in terms of very detailed information
on mugham it provides, and the records of the Azerbaijani mughams performed by various
artists (khanende). In general, the Encyclopedia comprises 1300 articles (texts) and more than

photos. 5 albums consisting of 125 discs recorded in MP3 format encompass 260 video and
audio records since the very first recorded mugham performances in the early 20th century all
the way to the winners of the TV mugham contest in 2007. It was for the first time that such a
