The Foundation also takes constant care of veterans of the Great Patriotic War (WW2) by
showing concern for their problems by offering them various types of assistance. The veterans
are entitled to individual social support, WW2 participants are commemorated in the names of
parks, monuments and through various festive events.
With the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s support, Genocide Memorial Plaques were installed
at common graves of victims of the massacre committed in 1918 by the Armenian Dashnak gangs
in the town of Guba and elsewhere in Azerbaijan.
Consistent efforts are undertaken by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation with a view to promote
the patriotic ideas of the nationhood laid by Azerbaijan’s recognized national leader Heydar
Aliyev among the younger generations.
With this goal in mind, in 2006-2008 the Foundation was involved in publishing materials
related to the history of Azerbaijan for certain target groups like the military personnel. The
Military Man’s Commemorative Booklet is just an example of the Foundation’s activities in this
sphere followed by training posters and various types of hardware provided to military units.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation is implementing social projects in other countries as well.
The Foundation has financially helped the victims of Haiti earthquakes and natural disaster in
Romania.
In September, 2011 the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, with the support of the President of
the Republic of France Nicolas Sarkozy and initiatives of the Terror Victims Association of
France and International Organization of Terror Victims donated financial aids to the Terror
Victims Association of France to hold the 7

International Congress dedicated to the terror
victims in Paris.
On September 12, 2012, opening ceremony of the Russia-Azerbaijan Friendship Bridge
was realized in Astrakhan, constructed with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
In 2012, child entertainment center was created in the Heydar Aliyev Park in Astrakhan,
with the initiative of the Foundation. Several types of attractions were built in the park with the
safety of the children provided.
