ACCORDION
Accordion, locally known as garmon, has found its way to the Azerbaijani music as of late 19th century.
Meanwhile, it was thoroughly modified and as such, found its place among the local folk instruments, getting particularly
popular in dances’ accompaniment. In the Azerbaijani garmon, melody is played by forefinger, middle finger, fourth finger and little
finger of the right hand. The keynote accompanying the melody is played with fingers of the left hand. Local garmon is usually richly
decorated and inlaid with mother-of-pearl.
