KAMANCHA
Kamancha is another stringed musical instrument played with
bow. Its name originates from the Turkic word ‘kaman’ standing
for ‘bow’. Kamancha was broadly mentioned in the medieval
Oriental poetry and depicted in local works of art, such as The
Musical Party miniature by Mir Sayyid Ali, a recognized artist of
the 14th century. The founding father of the classic Azerbaijani
music Uzeyir Hajibeyli (1885-1948) highly valued kamancha
emphasizing its similarity to human voice.
