The Organizing Committee
On May 19, 2011, Mr.Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, signed the Decree on the Eurovision
Song Contest 2012 in the City of Baku. Pursuant to the Decree, the Organizing Committee was established chaired
by Mrs.Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan’s First Lady, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the UNESCO and
ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador and the member of the National Legislature (Milli Majlis). The Committee comprised
representatives of 13 government agencies.
A number of serious technical issues were to be addressed in the framework of Eurovision Song Contest 2012.
The Organizing Committee was in charge of a broad variety of matters varying from hotel accommodation to trans-
portation and frommunicipal infrastructure to security measures. Preparedness to the Eurovision Song Contest 2012
was rigorously scrutinized at the meetings of the Organizing Committee.
