Eurovision Song Contest 2012
The Eurovision Song Contest is sometimes compared to the Olympic Games by its scope. However, unlike quadrennial
Olympics, each Eurovision host country has only one year for preparation.
That being said, the preparation activities shall be held in due course, with all events related to the project held con-
secutively within the period of one year. Substantial experience of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Organizing Part-
ner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, in arranging social, cultural, educational and other projects was instrumental
in impeccable conduct of all Eurovision-related events.
In the meantime, the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 provided an opportune chance to promote Azerbaijan’s rich cul-
tural heritage throughout the world. A number of important steps in this area were supported by the Heydar Aliyev
Foundation at each phase of preparation to the event, as well as in the course of the contest itself.
Personal involvement of Mrs.Mehriban Aliyeva, the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Chairperson of
the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 Organizing Committee, created an enabling environment to conduct these events
and efficiently address other related issues.
It should be also noted that along with the Organizing Partner, Brainpool German company was selected as the Show
Partner together with the Azerbaijan Tourism Association as the Tourism Partner. The team of sponsors included
Azercell Company (Presenting Partner), the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the Ministry
of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Schwartzkopf, Capital Bank, Silk Way Travel and Gilan Holding.
