The Press Center
More than 1500 media representatives from 80 countries were operating during the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.
Excellent conditions for media were arranged at the Press Center featuring 5000 square meters of space and located
next to the Baku Crystal Hall, the show’s arena. The Center with access to high-speed Internet boasts of the Conference
Hall, LED monitors to track shows and rehearsals, radio rooms for live broadcast, recreation area and 175-seat cafeteria.
The Press Center impressed the media officials and fans with a number of novices. Located in the most advantageous
spot of the Baku Bay, it provided the journalists and newcomers with an excellent opportunity to enjoy an impressive
view of the city for good two weeks. A virtual tour all over Azerbaijan was also made possible at the Press Center. Each of
the conference rooms was given name of one of the country’s picturesque areas. The interiors were lavishly decorated
with beautiful spots and views featuring Azerbaijan. The two weeks spent at the Press Center by media representatives
providing coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 was another excellent opportunity to get familiar with
Azerbaijan’s deeply-rooted customs and traditions.
Traditional fan vote preceding live shows was first displayed on the interactive monitors at Baku’s Press Center.
Sietse Bakker,
Event Supervisor, the Eurovision Song Contest:
What I loved most about this Press Center is that it was erected especially for
the Eurovision Song Contest. All requirements were met. Baku Press Center
is the best one among the Eurovision Press Centers that I have ever seen.
