Traveling throughout Azerbaijan
During the days of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 show, the visitors were given an opportunity to enjoy not only
the sites in Baku but to travel to various countryside areas of Azerbaijan. Tours were offered both in heritage places
and in the country’s modern recreation areas.
Baku’s landmark sites stirring particular interest of visitors and contest participants included the Seaside National
Park, the Fountain Plaza, the Mediaeval Citadel (Icheri Sheher), the Fire Temple of Atashgah, the Gala State Historic
Reserve, the Yanardagh State Natural Reserve to mention a few. Sailing in the Bay of Baku with breathtaking view
on the city was among the most favorite entertainments.
Meanwhile, a trip to Gabala, one of Azerbaijan’s most picturesque areas and the country’s old capital, was offered to
the performers and media representatives. Visiting countryside areas with pristine nature and centuries of history
was an excellent chance to relax right after intense rehearsals and thrilling performance.
