Conference “Burning Flame – Impressions of Azerbaijan” in Bucharest due to the 18th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy

Conference “Burning Flame – Impressions of Azerbaijan” was organized February 22 at the Culture Center in Bucharest 2nd Sector in frame of the series of events held in Romania due to the 18th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy.

 

The event was initiated and supported by Bucharest Writers Association, Romania Office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Embassy of Azerbaijan in the country.


Chairperson of Bucharest Writers Association, Dr Horia Girbea shared his impressions of Azerbaijan and presented a photo exhibition. He talked of painful consequences of Armenian aggression to Azerbaijan, assessing Khojaly genocide as one of the most horrible tragedies of XX century. The Romanian writer mentioned facts on the January 20 incidents and mass cemetery in Guba.   

 

Employee of the Embassy Fekhri Kerimli gave detailed information on Armenian military aggression against Azerbaijan, over a million Azeris left refugee and IDP by ethnic cleansing policy of Armenians, expressed gratitude to the state of Romania for the fair position in settlement of the Daghlig Garabagh conflict.


Head of Romania Office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Igbal Hajiyev provided information on campaign “Justice for Khojaly”. Coordinator of the Culture Center Mihaela Popesku, Head of Youth Parliament of Bucharest 2nd Sector Aleksandra Dobra, Chairperson of Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society Dumitru Balan addressed the Conference.

 

“TVR Cultural” TV, “Radio Romania”, “Romania Literara”, “Luceafarul”, “Cultura”, “Viata Romeanasca”, “Observatorul Cultural”, “Evenimentul Zilei”, “Adevarul”, “Jurnalul National” newspapers, “Rompress”, “Mediafax”, “Newsin” news agencies were represented in the event.

 

Books by Azeri authors translated into Romanian language due to support of the Embassy and Romania Representation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and booklets from series ‘True Facts about Garabagh’ developed by Heydar Aliyev Foundation were distributed to the participants.

 

Management of Romania Writers Union and Bucharest Writers Association, figures of culture and science, diplomats, artists, writers, journalists, students, representatives of Turk-Tatar community and Azeri diaspora partook in the Conference.

 

In addition, article by Chairperson of Bucharest Writers Association Horia Girbea about Khojaly tragedy will be posted on magazine Luceafarul, event due to the 18th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy and related to international campaign “Justice for Khojaly” will be organized February 26 by the Embassy and Romania Office of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
