Exhibition “Cultural Riches of Azerbaijan” supported and organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation opened in Saint Tropez, France

Exhibition “Cultural Riches of Azerbaijan” supported and organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was opened in Saint Tropez, France, as part of the 2nd Ramatuelle Festival of Classical Music, July 16. 

 

To be held at Chateau De La Messardiere Hotel till July 20, the exhibition highlights Azerbaijani carpets, antique copper pottery, national musical instruments and dresses, as well as photos featuring the country`s various sites.

 

The exhibition was opened by Executive Director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov, who conveyed to participants the greetings of Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva.

 

A.Alakbarov said the exhibition aims at promoting Azerbaijan`s culture and history. He highlighted the Foundation`s activity, saying it is carrying out socio-economic, educational, sports, cultural and humanitarian projects under the supervision of Mehriban Aliyeva. In frame of the Foundation’s projects, medical centers, hospitals, schools are repaired, new medical institutions built. The Foundation takes close part in the preservation and restoration of the cultural and historical heritage, international conferences and festivals are organized in this field in Azerbaijan and outside.

 

The Executive Director said the Ramatuelle Festival is held under the patronage of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva and is supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

 

Mayor of Saint-Tropez Jean-Pierre Tuveri and Mayor of Ramatuelle Roland Bruno talked of the beauty of works displayed at the exhibition, stressed the necessity for promoting Azerbaijan`s culture worldwide. They mentioned culture is the hugest force in the world bringing the nations and people together.

 

Up to 50 carpets presented in the exhibition represent all the courses of the carpet-weaving school of Azerbaijan for geographic position, ornaments, compositions, colors and technical features.

 

Antique copper works exhibited here have skillfully been made in different regions of ancient Azerbaijan.

 

Ancient musical instruments of Azerbaijan such as tar, tambourine, kamancha, balaban are also displayed in the exhibition.

 

The exhibition also features the Heydar Aliyev Foundation-published books and booklets on Azerbaijan`s culture, nature and cuisine. The highlight of the book display is collection “True Facts About Garabagh” translated into many languages, including French.

 

The first day of the exhibition featured the launch of French-language “Azerbaijan” book published by the Foundation. The publication, which includes over 1000 photographs, features comprehensive information on Azerbaijan, including the country`s history, culture, traditions, ethnographic characteristics and present day. The book takes a reader to every inch of capital Baku and regions.


A reception on behalf of Azerbaijan`s First Lady was given in honor of the exhibition`s participants, who also enjoyed a performance by Montreux Jazz Festival winner Emil Afrasiyab and tar player, Honor Artist Mirjavad Jafarov.
