The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has organized the “Azerbaijani Village” in Paris with the objective of promoting Azerbaijan, its culture, traditions and lifestyle in France, familiarizing peoples with different cultures and lifestyles more closely,and strengthening the cultural relations between the two countries.
A village called “Azerbaijan in the heart of Paris” has operated on famous Palais Royal Square before the Louvre Museum from 29th August to 8th September.
On September 3, Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva and Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the “Azerbaijani Village”.
Exhibitions demonstrating Azerbaijan’s carpet-making, pottery and other art products, national garments and music instruments have been arranged in the Village. Visitors had a chance to view the process of making these samples of art in the “Workshop” section. Artisans from our country, making copper dishes, shebeke (lattices), carpets and other art samples, presented Azerbaijan’s ancient and rich art traditions and their niceties to visitors.
Photos and information reflecting the two countries and nations' life has been displayed at a photo-exhibition called "Azerbaijanis and the French: the history of acquaintance", dedicated to well-known Azerbaijanis living in France and famous French people who had visited Azerbaijan. Sweets and drinks have been presented in kiosks demonstrating our national cuisine, and delicious dishes of our national cuisine were made for the guests. Publications of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation covering various spheres were presented in the village. At the concert programmes arranged, visitors were presented Azerbaijani music and dances.
The “Azerbaijani Village” was first arranged by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Paris in the period from 19th to 28th September 2014 on Saint Sulpice Square.
