Mehriban Aliyeva met with Professor Jacques Legrand, Rector of French National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations

Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, met with Professor Jacques Legrand, Rector of French National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO), July 12.

Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva expressed confidence that Legrand`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to boosting relations between the Foundation and INALCO and expanding the scope of activity.

She said the opening of the Faculty of Azerbaijani Language at INALCO was a new page in development of Azerbaijan-France relationship. She added teaching Azerbaijani language provides opportunity to the French youth to learn more about the Azerbaijani people and the country`s culture and history.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s President also underlined the necessity of improving the quality of education in the Faculty.

Jacques Legrand, in turn, said the interest for teaching Azerbaijani language at INALCO increases year after year. He also vowed to increase relevant efforts.

The sides also discussed how to set up a working group together with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to prepare publications in Azerbaijani language in France.
