Mehriban Aliyeva met with President of Thalassaemia Federation of Turkey and Mediterranean Foundation on Hematology Duran Canatan

Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, met with President of Thalassaemia Federation of Turkey and Mediterranean Foundation on Hematology Duran Canatan, July 12.

Mehriban Aliyeva praised contributions of Canatan, an expert at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for thalassaemia, to fighting the disease.

She spoke about the program launched by the Foundation to prevent thalassaemia in Azerbaijan, noting the efforts of the Baku Thalassaemia Center in this regard. The President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation stressed the importance of learning Canatan`s experience in fighting the disease.

Canatan praised efforts of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation towards fighting thalassaemia.

Preventive measures such as enlightenment works, blood tests, treatment of the disease, bone marrow transplantation were discussed in the meeting.
