Mehriban Aliyeva met with Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ioannis Metaksas

July 12, Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, met with Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ioannis Metaksas.

Mehriban Aliyeva praised the relationship between Azerbaijan and Greece. She briefed the Ambassador on the activities of the Foundation, expressing hope that bilateral cooperation would deepen in the future even more. Mrs Aliyeva added the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is always open to international relations and joint projects.

For his part, Ambassador Metaksas underlined the importance of the projects carried out by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The diplomat recalled visit of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva to Athens last year.

They also discussed how to use alternative energy sources in boarding-schools built at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The Greek Embassy will carry out this project at two boarding-schools in Badamdar və Turkan settlements as a pilot project.

The Ambassador said he donated to the Foundation an ultrasound examination machine for diagnosis of iodine deficiency. The machine will be given to one of hospitals in the country.
