Mehriban Aliyeva met with Culture Minister of France Frederic Mitterrand

In frame of solemn ceremony in Paris dedicated to the 20th anniversary of restoration of Azerbaijan’s independence, Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, met with Culture Minister of France Frederic Mitterrand, February 17.

Welcoming Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, Frederic MITTERRAND said:

Dear First Lady, I am honored to welcome You here in Paris. I know very well that You take a number of measures to promote independence of Your country and are very active in this sphere. Also, I have to confess that information about Azerbaijan, promotion of Azerbaijan in France considerably increases. Both documentaries and commercials shown on TV provide comprehensive information on Azerbaijan’s tourist opportunities, cultural heritage that is very interesting for the French.   

This magnificent event has been organized on the highest level and I can call it a great success. You know that I hardly try to further deepen the cultural ties between Azerbaijan and France and I wish it sincerely. Such events, works done, steps taken are not limited with own borders. It directly impacts on a public opinion, on the mind of people living here. And this is very good.

We make huge efforts towards cultural heritage, archeology, formation of museum activity, exchange in the field of music. There is a firm cooperation between our countries. As a continuation of this cooperation, I want to pay a visit to Your country, if You wish it.

I absolutely agree that just through culture, people, nations know each other better, study each other more deeply and it plays important role in development of relations between countries. 

This is our first event. But I hope during a month we will organize several such events and we attach great importance to holding such events particularly in France. France has the most ancient history and culture.

Taking the opportunity, I invite You to visit Azerbaijan and I hope we will meet in Azerbaijan in the near future.
