The second sitting of the Organizing Committee of the European Games to be held in 2015 in Baku took place

On June 25, the second sitting of the Organizing Committee of the European Games to be held in 2015 in Baku took place.


Chairperson of the Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva participated in the sitting.


Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the sitting.


Presenting the master plan of the Athletes’ village, Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov informed, talking about the works done in the Olympic Village, that all conditions will be created for accommodation, catering and rest of some 7 thousand 300 athletes in the Olympic Village. Saying that they have been working on these matters jointly with local and foreign experts, Azad Rahimov noted that 18 Memoranda of Understanding were signed during the period since the first sitting of the Organizing Committee, 18 types of sport will be included in the Games and signing of a memorandum is expected on other two types of sport.


Mehriban Aliyeva underlined the significance of infrastructure matters associated with the preparation for the Games, and said monitoring of sport facilities are held.


Then Chairman of the State Committee for Property Issues Karam Hasanov, Executive Adviser of the working group for European Games Doug Arnot, Security Adviser for European Games and member of the European Games’ working group Peter Ashwin, Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov, Minister of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov, Deputy head of the President Administration Ali Asadov and Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov delivered speeches.


Summarizing the second sitting of the Organizing Committee, Mehriban Aliyeva emphasized the significance of building broad and close cooperation between the concerned organizations. Mentioning that large-scale sport events have been held in Azerbaijan, known as a country of sport, and that international experts were of high opinion in this regard, Mehriban Aliyeva said Azerbaijan will hold these games on the highest level, by decently executing its duties as the first country to host the European games.
