Winners of composition contest of schoolchildren dedicated to national leader Heydar Aliyev’s 87th birthday awarded

On the eve of Heydar Aliyev’s 87th birthday, a composition contest among schoolchildren dedicated to the national leader’s rich life and actions is over.


The best writers were selected among 96 schoolchildren in the final stage of the three-phase contest in the ceremony held May 6 at Gulustan Palace.

 

First, participants laid a wreath at the grave of national leader Heydar Aliyev at the Honor Alley.    

 

They laid flowers at the tomb of outstanding scientist in ophthalmology, academician Mrs Zarifa Aliyeva, too.

 

The contest was organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the ministries of Education and Communications and Information Technologies, as well as Trade Unions Confederation. Five children won first, five – second and 11 – third places.


On the initiative of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, the winners will travel to Belgium, which will include trips to the Netherlands, France and Germany as well and familiarization with life and historical-cultural monuments of the countries.

 

Addressing the event, which was attended by famous scientists, higher schools’ rectors, MPs, representatives of various institutions, education employees, Education Minister Misir Merdanov talked of huge importance national leader Heydar Aliyev attached to the development of education, noting his eternal ideas are successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

 

Mentioning significance of education programmes and projects implemented in the country, the Minister said a lot of schools meeting modern standards have been built and opened over the past years on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.


Deputy Chairman-Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), MP Ali Ahmadov noted the necessity for the study of genius leader Heydar Aliyev’s political heritage, which, according to him, serves formation of ideas of patriotism and statehood.

 

Talking of the governmental care to education in the country, A.Ahmadov noted upon the decision of NAP Presidium, all the contest winners are granted NAP scholarships while studying at higher schools.

 

Chairman of Trade Unions Confederation, MP Sattar Mehbaliyev talked of huge care and attention by national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continues his political line, to the youth.

 

Executive Director of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Elekberov underlined the Foundation performs successful projects in field of education, culture, science and technology, health, sport. Only within the New School to New Azerbaijan Project, more than 300 schools were built and well equipped in the republic. A number of schools, preschool educational institutions were capitally repaired. The Executive Director said 21 winners of the contest will travel to foreign countries at the initiative of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP.

 

Talking of development of education in the country, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Elmir Velizade mentioned significance of the contest, congratulated the winners.

 

The winners were presented diplomas, honor certificates and precious prizes.
