President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva inaugurated Special Boarding School 16 in Shuvalan settlement after capital reconstruction

President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of Special Boarding School 16 for children suffering from cerebral palsy and poliomyelitis in Shuvalan settlement after capital reconstruction, February 24.


She was presented flowers.


Reconstruction works implemented at the School as part of Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s Children Homes and Boarding Schools Development Programme started in March last year. The School’s building has been renovated, yard improved, new boiler house, summer sport games and football grounds, swimming pool, reservoir built, trees and flowers planted. 24 subject cabinets have been equipped with every device, literature fund of the library enriched, a computer room set up. Children eat 3 times a day at the canteen.


The 180-seat School is attended by 118 pupils, who are educated by 54 teachers. Pupils take therapeutic sport courses at physiotherapy, medical examination, logopedics rooms and gym that have been reconstructed. Psychologists deal with children. Vast majority of pupils live at the School’s dormitory.


The fully renovated assembly hall is available for intellectual events for children.


Then, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva saw children training in the gym.


After touring facilities here, Mehriban Aliyeva presented the School with a gift by Heydar Aliyev Foundation - keys to the new bus.

President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva inspected the repair works at the Republican Gymnasium of the Arts in Shuvalan settlement.


Repair works are underway in educational buildings and hostel of the facility in frame of the Foundation’s Children Homes and Boarding Schools Development Programme. The school will be supplied with new equipment after repairs are over.


The settlement has 7 secondary schools, majority of which have been reconstructed under Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s support. Within the Foundation’s New School to New Azerbaijan Programme, construction of the 300-seat building for Secondary School 119 in Khazar district’s Turkan settlement, the 1040-seat building for Secondary School 117 in Bina settlement and buildings of Secondary School 120 in Zira settlement has commenced.  


M.Aliyeva viewed a stand of the newly built educational buildings. She was informed a kindergarten in Shuvalan has also been reconstructed within the Foundation’s Children Homes and Boarding Schools Development Programme.
