President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva meets with prominent Azerbaijani artist Tahir Salahov

Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva met November 24 with prominent Azerbaijani artist, Socialist Labor Hero, laureate of state prizes of USSR and Azerbaijan, People’s Artist of USSR Tahir Salahov.

 

Mehriban Aliyeva warmly greeted Tahir Salahov at Heydar Aliyev Foundation and congratulated him on his 80th birthday anniversary.

 

Valuing Tahir Salahov as one of the outstanding representatives of the contemporary art school of Azerbaijan that has bright traditions she stressed works by the artist distinguished with diversity of theme, genre and artistic form, aesthetic perfection are in the golden fund of our treasure of the national art. Tahir Salahov had gained popularity for his works both inside and beyond the country. She also added Salahov`s works stored at the influential museums and galleries in the world, also in personal collections play significant role in popularization of Azerbaijani culture throughout the world. According to Mrs. Aliyeva, Tahir Salahov has made an immense contribution to training of the young artists and development of Azerbaijani art including national painting with pedagogical activity and organizational skills.

 

Stressing great merits of T.Salahov in promotion and development of Azeri art she called Tahir Salahov the pride of Azerbaijani people.

 

Tahir Salahov, in turn, expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. According to him, marking his anniversary in the native land is vivid evidence to great appreciation of his activity.

 

He also stressed President Ilham Aliyev`s decree to mark his 80th anniversary made a great impression on him. Tahir Salahov thanked President Ilham Aliyev for his care and Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for her contribution to popularization of Azerbaijani culture across the world.

 

Mrs. Aliyeva presented Tahir Salahov with a book about the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and "Garabagh singers" music album.
