Foreign participants of Azerbaijani Women’s 3rd Congress visit Heydar Aliyev Foundation
Guests from Turkey, Russia, Kuwait, Jordan and Lithuania who are in Baku to attend the Azerbaijani Women’s 3rd Congress visited Heydar Aliyev Foundation, September 25.
Guests were informed of objectives of the Foundation established in memory of national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, exhibits taken from the archive of the great leader reflecting separate eras of his activity. They viewed numerous documents reflecting the very various moments of genius person’s life and creating a detailed idea of the entire history of Azerbaijan, gifts presented by world-famous figures of politics, books on the national leader, views said by world-famous figures of science, culture and art on the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, saw photos taken in meetings with leaders of various countries.
Foreign visitors watched a documentary on activities of Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Then, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, Member of the Milli Majlis Mehriban Aliyeva met with visitors.

Dear guests, I cordially greet you in Azerbaijan. Welcome to Heydar Aliyev Foundation!
First, I express you my gratitude for accepting our invitation and coming to Azerbaijan to attend the congress of women. I hope the congress will be very fruitful and its results will make women in our country more active and contribute to settlement problems in this field.
Azerbaijan is one of the very dynamically developing countries in the world. You probably know that Azerbaijan is the leader country in the world for economic growth over the past 4 years. This development is reflected almost in every field of our life. There is huge rebirth, renovation in every field, including education, culture, healthcare. You probably will have opportunity to tour Baku and you will see so many constructions underway in Baku, new roads under construction. All historical buildings are restored. The same development concerns all regions of Azerbaijan.
Huge attention is rendered today to settlement of social issues in Azerbaijan. Education is one of most priorities in state policy. 1300 new schools were built in our country lately and equipped with latest devices, computers. Over 700,000 workplaces were opened in our country for past 5 years. It has almost removed the unemployment problem. In short, all spheres of life develop today in our country and the woman of Azerbaijan plays big role in all these achievements.
Azeri woman had invaluable role throughout the history in protection of our native language, literature, culture, religion, national values in Azerbaijan. XX century can be valued as the beginning of a new era in life of Azerbaijani women. Because beginning from the early this century Azerbaijani women started to take active part in all spheres of public and political life of our country. The first democratic parliamentary republic in the Moslem East was founded in Azerbaijan in 1918 and that granted the Azerbaijani women the right to elect and be elected. I mean, Azeri woman obtained this right several years before a number of western countries’ women. After our country restored its independence, all opportunities were opened before our women and they almost completely use these opportunities.
The State Committee for Family, Woman and Child Problems was established in 2006 in our country that deals with problems of women, solution of issues concerning them. I want to say the state pays huge attention to this field too.

Mehriban Aliyeva informed of works done to expand the role of women in the society, active participation of women in life of the country.
Foreign participants expressed pleasure of visiting Azerbaijan and thanked for warm reception.
