The third meeting of the European Council of Ministers for Environment and Health was held within the “Green Week” project being held in cooperation with IDEA and UN Environment Program (UNEP)

The third meeting of the European Council of Ministers for Environment and Health was held within the “Green Week” project being held in cooperation with the International Dialogue Initiative for Protection of the Environment (IDEA) and UN Environment Program (UNEP).


Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder of IDEA Leyla Aliyeva attended the meeting.


Addressing the meeting, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Baghyrov talked of the projects being implemented in our country to improve environmental condition, and said the “Green Week” was one of these projects.

Addressing the meeting, Regional Director of the World Health Organization for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab underlined that healthy lifestyle for people is an important condition. Z. Jakab said the “Green Economy” needs to rely on sustainable development, in order to improve peoples’ living standards.

Regional Director of UN Environmental Program (UNEP) Jan Dusik and other speakers said Azerbaijan would play a significant role in the development of the “Green Economy” as a leading state in the region. Speakers underlined that serious responsibility rests on all of us in terms of protection of the environment, turning the world we live in into a safe place for young generations.


The meeting continued its work with discussions.
