Mehriban Aliyeva is awarded the order of “For Services to Astrakhan Region”

Deputies of the Astrakhan Region’s Duma have backed the presentation of Alexander Jilkin, the governor of the region, to confer President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva on the order of “For Services to Astrakhan Region”.

 

In a plenary session, deputies of the Regional Parliament discussed the nomination of President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva for the order of “For Services to Astrakhan Region”.

 

Duma’s official web-site informs that Mehriban Aliyeva heads the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which is engaged in strengthening of the friendly relations between the Astrakhan Region and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Under the leadership of Mehriban Aliyeva, the Foundation has been implementing a number of projects of social importance. A monument has been erected to Heydar Aliyev. The building of Secondary School No.11, which is named after him, has been reconstructed. In 2012, the Azerbaijan-Russia Friendship Bridge was inaugurated. The monument to Prince Vladimir and “Mechta” children’s entertainment park are among the charitable works by the Foundation.

 

One of the projects being currently implemented is the construction of a kindergarten designed for 240 children. The first phase of this project is expected to be completed by September 2014. Opening of an Azerbaijani cultural and business centre is expected in the region.
