Azerbaijani children deprived of parental care visit Georgia due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation

Mutual visits of Azerbaijani and Georgian children deprived of parental care have been initiated by First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and First Lady of Georgia Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs.

The initiative has already been realized. Azeri Ambassador to Georgia Namig Aliyev met with children having arrived in Georgia on a 10-day excursion at the Azerbaijan’s Friends Club lecture hall at the I.Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

The Ambassador said I am pleased to greet you at the lecture hall created due to support of the Foundation named after the great leader and on the initiative of the Embassy. A lot of interesting events are held here. Friendly ties between Azerbaijan and Georgia caused realization of the century’s global projects through the Georgian territory and are continued by another project – construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. These projects are important contributions to the economic development of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.

Thanks to national leader Heydar Aliyev’s policy, Azerbaijan-Georgia relationship reached the level of strategic partnership. The great leader attached special importance to relations with Georgia and these relations are intensively developing. You will witness it in Tbilisi. There are many nice places here related to Azerbaijan. Bust of Heydar Aliyev enriches the ancient part of the city, a large street on the bank of Kur is named after the national leader, there are graves of Azeri public-political figures at Botanical Garden, where significant renovation works were done due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. House-museums of M.F.Akhundzade, J.Mammadguluzade operate, and we believe the house-museum of N.Narimanov will be restored.

A wide area has been allocated to our embassy and new building is under construction. The Azerbaijan school and mosque are in the area where the bust of the great leader is located. In a word, you will be pleased of your visit here.

I express my gratitude to the organizers of this project – Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, MP Mehriban Aliyeva and First Lady of Georgia Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs. I believe it will be continued. It will bring to the holiday of youth from both countries and creation of friendly ties among them, which will play a positive role in establishment of future relations.

Welcoming children, Dean of Humanitarian Faculty at the I.Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Darejan Tvaltvadze expressed confidence the children will be satisfied of the visit. Informing of the University background, he said over 18.000 students get education there. Talking of friendship between Georgia and Azerbaijan, the Dean warmly recalled his visit to Baku. ‘Friendship between Georgia and Azerbaijan bases on the sincere relations of the two nations and this is why it has always stood and will stand honestly all the tests’, Tvaltvadze noted, stressing the lecture hall created at the University due to support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation is a vivid example of this.

Ambassador Namig Aliyev presented gifts to children and they presented him small carpets that they made themselves and reflect the flag and national emblem of Azerbaijan.

Children informed of the visit, expressed thanks to the first ladies of both countries for the initiative.
