Summer camp for connection and integration of disabled children into society opened

Summer camp was opened in Nabran by Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Youth and Sport and UNICEF on September 10. The camp aims to improve children’s skills on child rights, healthy lifestyle and living abilities, connection and integration of disabled children into society and skills among children of the same age.

 

Head of Khachmaz District Executive Power Shamsaddin Khanbabayev, UNICEF delegate Natig Umarov, Chairwoman of ‘Dan’ Public Union Gulara Teymurova and others talked in the opening ceremony of the camp about the care to the development of children in the country.

 

According to them, protection of child rights and freedoms, rendering high quality education and medical service to them, growing them as a perfect personality and decent citizen are the priority courses in the state child policy of Azerbaijan. Started by national leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, the policy is being changed into the national strategy. Following this policy, President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva, the President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP, pay special attention to children affairs.

 

The speakers mentioned Heydar Aliyev Foundation renders huge support to the development of education. In frame of the New School to New Azerbaijan Programme of the Foundation, nearly 300 schools were built, hundreds reconstructed and supplied with newest appliances and computers.

 

Within the Children Homes and Boarding Schools Development Programme of the Foundation, 38 children homes and boarding schools were reconstructed, basically repaired and provided with up-to-date equipment for the past 5 years.

 

They noted every job done in base of the ideas of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva is sourced from the love for people, and people see and appreciate this love. 

 

The major purpose of the 5-day camp is to teach disabled children the training skills in order to ease their integration to society and improve habits of acquiring the means of communication with children of the same age. The camp will involve up to 50 children at the age of 13-17 from Khachmaz and districts of Baku, as well 14 parents, 14 technical employees and specialists. In addition, sport contests, demonstration of films and other events will be organized for the participants within the framework of the summer camp.

 

According to the speakers, analogical events will go on and cover more children.

 

The camp will be closed on September 14.
